This cable was exactly what it was supposed to be, but not what I needed.

Most of us have never heard of a USB 4-Pin Mini-B plug. Our lives are full of cameras, MP3 players and portable data storage devices that use "Mini B connectors," the ones that look like a trapezoid with a little crimp in either side. This is the very common 5-pin Mini B plug. Even Wikipedia doesn't tell you on the main page that this is a 5-pin, it just shows you a photo of it with some others, labelling it a "Mini-B plug."

The 4-pin Mini-B plug is used for several very specific devices, and should be considered non-standard. Don't get this cable unless you know it's the right one for your non-standard device!
