I have now purchased 3 of these bulbs and have been very pleased. The first was about a year ago and two recently. I am using these for outdoor porch/garage lighting. I began looking at LED's to address the issue where "CFL's" don't work in timer switches of which I use for my outdoor lighting. The light output is very good and now I have reduced 180 watts down to 15 watts ... translating to a nice savings!

At the time I bought these, I got a really good deal, I think I bought like 8 of them new, and they were reduced to something like $12 a piece. They work great! I repair computers, and ran across problems with E-Machine PCs that tend to run hot, and this was an easy fix for that. They fit into an open PCI slot, which I chose the bottom slot for, and it has an adjustable knob to control the speed from the back of the computer! Plus, if you have a case with windows, they have a very bright blue light on them! Cool!!

The biggest problem that we've had trying to use CFL bulbs is the color temperature of the bulbs is too different and not broad enough to look like an incandescent bulb. The result is a blue'ish light that feels cold and hard (at least to me).

This bulb is one of the best I've seen at reproducing the light from a "regular" light bulb. Add to that the shape of the bulb (not spiral) and it's a great replacement. Also note that spiral bulbs tend to be extremely bright to look directly at (walk up to your lamp and look into the shade when one is running!). This bulb has a frosted look and, as such, does not burn your eyes out if you look at it.

If your looking for a great 60w bulb that everyone will think is an incandescent light look no further than this "GE Soft White bulb.
