This is an eSATAp port for the back of your computer. It allows you to use a bare hard drive directly; no need for rails, cradles, enclosures, or docking bays. Very convenient for drive imaging, backups, and occasional dual booting.

It provides both 5V and 12V, so any hard drive should work. An eSATAp cable is included in the box. Regular eSATA and USB devices can plug into it as well.

The only problem I had was with the cheap internal SATA cable that came in the box: it caused trouble communicating with the drives I attached. Since I replaced that cable with a good one, this unit has been working just fine.
