Ever since buying my desk lamp that took a MR-16 (GU5.3) bi-pin bulb, I've been unhappy with the bulb they provided. It was a spotlight style 50-watt halogen that created this extremely bright 6-inch diameter spot on my desk and practically no light past the edges. I've been looking for a replacement bulb to give me more of a desk-lamp-like feel, and this is it. I've tried LED bulbs before, but they aren't nearly bright enough for desk-lamp use.

This bulb creates no bright spots. In fact, light is pretty much evenly spread across my entire desk at the moment. The brightest area is only marginally brighter than the dimmer edges. Thus, if you're looking for a flood 50 watt 12 volt halogen bulb, this is your bulb. I will definitely buy more of these bulbs when I need them.
