I give this bulb a mediocre rating because it is not really better than an equivalent plain halogen bulb. I have heard over the years that xenon is better, but it is not. True, the color might be whiter, last slightly longer, and run slightly cooler. However, I have had one of these in a table lamp for about a month, and there is no discernible difference from the halogen bulb it replaced.
However, I do recommend this bulb: it is 10 watts. My table lamp came with a 20 watt halogen bulb; when I put in this bulb, the reduction in light was not that dramatic, and better, the glare on glossy magazines was reduced. More, the reflector and base running temperature was lower; I assume that this increases the lifespan of my table lamp.
