This cable is perfect to match our 5500 kw generator to our home's 30 amp input. This cable will handle a generator with up to a 30 amp load.

We ordered the cable in Dec 2011 and it's been working perfectly. Today I realized (due to looking up the cable to write this review) we were shipped a 20' cable when apparently I ordered the 10'. Had I realized before we had used it almost a year I would have contacted Amazon to see if they wanted the cable exchanged. Just be aware to check what length cable arrives when you order. Now there is an option to select either a 10' or a 20' cable, I don't recall that being an option last fall.

The cable came with the L14-30 NEMA Configuration approved for indoor or outdoor use per the box.

EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS TIP: We built a custom cart for our generator. The generator tab "locks" onto a groove in the cart so it won't vibrate off while running. The cart has locking wheels for easy portability back and forth to the garage as well as to make oil changes a breeze to perform. We have mounted this cord onto the cart so everything is always within easy grasp. Finally we built a lean-to over the generator input with a patio brick area and put a rail around it to keep the dogs and children away from the generator while fully protecting our generator from the elements. Now we can keep the generator running confidently despite ice storms or electrical storms, it's a breeze to setup and run on short notice - no more battling snow n ice to get it where it's needed AND the generator is no longer taking up precious garage space.. Win-win!
