For some reason, people imagine that digital signals are as forgiving as analog are. Not so, bucko. In fact they outright fail when limits are exceeded. Analog just degrade.

USB aside, I have been testing digital cables since 2004. You can hear the noise and see the snow. My main concern, to be forthcoming, has been in medical applications. Who cares if your lousy MP-3 files sound a little worse. But when your medical monitors do not operate to spec, people die. So I learned about cable specifications and standards.

I have only three points for your consideration:

Firstly, this is the maximum length you can have, under normal conditions, to propagate a USB 2.0 cable signal. Five meters is about it for USB. Longer and the signal begins to fall off. This constraint has nothing to do with AuqioQuest, but it is important in high definition, in 3-D and in overall signal quality. These long AudioQuest cables operate to spec.

Secondly, for any given set of specs, the cable operates somewhere above, at, or below. That is why you want cables that are CERTIFIED to operate at spec if handled properly.

Again, it is wonderful to see and hear what certified cables do at the spec your home entertainment needs, but it is a life saver in the Intensive Care Unit and the operating room.

I have never been disappointed by AudioQuest and this is the best value I have found.

TWO last things. USB 3.0 is already on the horizon. Your future computers and devices will need 3.0 to operate at HIGH speed. Just something to keep in mind for your planning. The other is to make note that these are A-B ends. One is the typical USB plug you are used to, the other is a square. Just check to see you need these specific terminations.
