This repair kit supplies the capacitors needed to repair the power supply board inside a Samsung LN-46A750R1F LCD monitor. This repair kit is for the power supply board pictured above. My tv suddenly wouldn't turn on at all recently. It would just click. The red light was on, so I knew it was getting power. It would try to turn on, but no luck. I did some research and learned about the capacitor problem. Took the tv apart and found 2 bad capacitors with black fluid oozing out. This product matched my tv model number, so I placed the order and bought a cheap soldering iron (25 volt from Home Depot).
The package arrived very quickly (2 days) and included links to a lot of different tutorials and various information about the process. None of the tutorials matched my model of tv, but it didn't really matter. The process of changing the capacitors is the same regardless of what product you're working on. There were several capacitors on my board, but only 2 were visibly bad. They were both 10 volt capacitors and were right next to each other. There were no 10 volt capacitors included in the package, but I used the 16 volt capacitors because I was in a hurry and didn't want to wait for the time it would take to return the package and get a replacement kit (although the seller says they will do that without a problem). So far the 16 volt replacements are working just fine. I don't know anything about electronics, but I assumed that the 10v capacitors weren't cutting it, so it seemed logical to go up a little. 16v was the closest to 10v that was provided. I read not to go down in voltage. Anyway, so far so good. Time will tell. I just replaced them last night and it turned on no problem.
The process of replacing the capacitors was far easier than I expected. I haven't soldered anything since an electronics class 15 years ago. The cheap soldering iron worked for me. A lot of people said it won't last long, but I really don't expect to solder anything esle anytime soon, so the cheap route worked for me. I used the solder included in the repair kit. I thought it would be really frustrating, but the actuall process of removing the 2 bad capacitors with the soldering iron and soldering in the new ones took less than 10 minutes. There are tiny numbers that label each part on the main side of the board. Just find the number on the board next to the bad parts and then find that same number on the opposite (solder) side of the board. That shows you where to solder to remove the bad part. A little pressure on the bad capacitor with your finger will help. Just remember that there are negative and positive wires on the capacitor that need to be placed in the right orientation. Just read and/or watch the tutorials. There is a stripe that needs to face the same direction as the old one. It's as simple as that.
The hardest part of the process was taking the tv apart. It shouldn't be hard, but some of the screws were stripped and took some effort to remove. Also, several pieces of plastic from the screw housings broke off simply from the force of removing the screws. No big deal; it all went back together ok. Remember to take pictures of all the wires before you unplug them. My board and the cage that covered it didn't look like any of the other tutorials, so I took pics of every single connection before I unplugged them and then looked at the pics as I plugged everything back in. 2 wires in particular looked identical and I wouldn't have been able to sort them out without the picture.
So basically it was easy because I took the time to learn about it before I jumped in in and did it. I'm sure I would have messed it up otherwise. I was worried at first about the replacement capacitors not matching mine , but I don't think it will matter. It would have been nice to see a list off all the capacitors included before I ordered it, but it turns out it was just what I needed. They include several different sizes of capacitors to match any of them that might be bad on your board (except for the really big ones, which shouldn't go bad anyway) as well as the solder that it takes to replace them. Take tv apart, identify bad capacitors, remove and replace, reassemble, done. Just add soldering iron.
