I purchased these bulbs in 11/2011 through this listing: Earthtronics CF23DL4BT2 65W CFL. I am still using them after 18 months. 1 of 8 bulbs were broken upon arrival. Amazon issued a partial refund.I use 2 of these bulbs with the Honeywell RPLS540A Programmable Timer Switch and 2 with the Honeywell RPLS740B Programmable Timer Switch. The 4 bulbs are in covered outdoor light fixtures that illuminate several areas outside our home. They are never exposed to direct moisture. They are exposed to cold (10*F) and warm (110*F) temperatures. They do take longer to warm up on cold days. I set the timers to turn them on X minutes before sunset. I adjust the timers to turn on a few minutes earlier during the winter months. The bulbs are still very bright after 18 months of use (3-4 hours per night, 7 nights per week).
I was initially disappointed because these bulbs seemed *too* bright. I did not understand the difference between 2700K, 5000K, and these 6500K bulb "temperatures". These 6500K bulbs are by far the brightest I've ever seen! They remind me of the bright blue lights that utility companies sometimes install in neighborhoods or near farm houses. If you live in a neighborhood where houses are very close together, these will likely annoy the neighbors. I knew I wanted something brighter than the standard 2700K "warm" incandescent bulbs that match the output of most household incandescent light bulbs, but I would probably look for 5000K bulbs if I made the purchase again. These bulbs do a great job of lighting up the outside of our house.
The 2 bulbs connected to the Honeywell RPLS540A (3-way switch) output a very dim flicker while the switch is turned off. The flicker is not noticeable during daylight, but is noticeable while the lights are shutoff at night. I suspect this is an issue specific to the 3-way timer switch and not an issue with the bulbs.
Overall, I am very pleased with these bulbs. If I couldn't find bulbs with a temperature between 2700K and 6500K (e.g. around 5000K), I would buy these again.
